My Story...
Welcome to my Sporting Life 10k fundraising page! I'm excited to participate for the first time this year.
Unfortunately, childhood cancer has affected me, personally, on more than one occasion. My brother was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma at a young age. I still remember the day we got the diagnosis, and how sick he got from all the treatments. It was a scary and dark time for our family.
I also remember how our family and community pulled together to support and help us get through it all. From making homemade dinners, to offering child care, to the care my brother received at Sick Kids Hospital and the compassion from the staff at the Ronald McDonald House, I know my mom, a single parent, was so grateful for it all (as am I).
Now, I'm happy to be part of this community, helping other families in need find a little joy during their dark times. And I'm so excited to be joined by my amazing colleagues on Team Falgarwood!

A diagnosis of childhood cancer changes life in an instant.
For affected kids and families, it can suddenly feel like everything is about cancer. Camp Ooch offers a hopeful journey, where kids with cancer can just be kids, and families connect with a community of strength and support when they need it the most.
They are much more than a summer camp—they offer the social cure for childhood cancer. Their camp-inspired programs deliver fun, friendship, and community to 1,900 kids and 745 families year-round, all across Ontario. As a response to COVID-19, virtual camp and in-hospital programs continue to reach kids and families living in isolation, wherever they are.
