My Story...
Dear Friends and Family,
Here we go! Once again I'll be lacing up my shoes, tuning up my Ukulele and participating in the SL10K for the 12th time in support of Camp Ooch & Camp Trillium, but make no mistake, this year will be very different!
1. The need for Camp has never been greater and your support has never been more integral. Whether it's 1 on 1 programs at the hospital, virtual programs in their homes or in person summer day camps and family retreats (*fingers crossed*), our campers need our support and we can't do it without you.
2. Not only will I be running with my Ukulele, playing and singing the entire way with my good friend Nick, this year we're taking it to the next level and getting the band together. Stay tuned for fun videos in the weeks ahead!
3. I signed up for the 10X10 challenge, which means I'll be running this race 10 times in the month of May... Usually I run once a year, and the next day I feel like a bag of hammers, but I'm pushing myself to do this for our campers and families.
The pandemic has had a significant impact on the charitable sector in Canada. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the ingenuity of our staff and the strength of our community, we've been able to continue to offer quality programs to children and families affected by cancer, but it has not been easy. Your contribution will help ensure that we can continue to do the important work of supporting kids and families who need us most.
Thank you as always for your support and please stay safe!
Love,
Ken
Description
A diagnosis of childhood cancer changes life in an instant.
For affected kids and families, it can suddenly feel like everything is about cancer. Camp Ooch offers a hopeful journey, where kids with cancer can just be kids, and families connect with a community of strength and support when they need it the most.
They are much more than a summer camp—they offer the social cure for childhood cancer. Their camp-inspired programs deliver fun, friendship, and community to 1,900 kids and 745 families year-round, all across Ontario. As a response to COVID-19, virtual camp and in-hospital programs continue to reach kids and families living in isolation, wherever they are.
Please consider making a donation to my fundraising efforts—your gift will make a world of difference!
Cancer changes a child’s life. So does camp. And so can you.
