We run for the real rockstars ... Evie and Sophia! We run for Ooch!
Cancer and treatments don’t always take a break, even during a pandemic ... and Camp Ooch is always there for children battling cancer, even during a pandemic!
Thirteen year old Sophia enjoyed almost a full year of being cancer free, but this past year her leukemia returned. She underwent chemo in addition to a new immunotherapy treatment which she responded well to. In March Sophia was able to return to her home in Timmins and her new cat Jinx.
Eleven year old Evie is doing well and her tumor remains stable. She receives chemo daily which is taken in the form of a few small pills each morning. Her vision, although limited, also remains stable and Evie is thrilled with her new glasses! The switch to online learning although challenging, has provided her family with a direct peek inside what school looks like for Evie, enabling them to learn new strategies to help support her.
Both girls always look forward to seeing Camp Ooch Councillors at SickKids and are really excited anticipating the time when they can once again experience the joy of overnight Camp Ooch!

A diagnosis of childhood cancer changes life in an instant.
For affected kids and families, it can suddenly feel like everything is about cancer. Camp Ooch offers a hopeful journey, where kids with cancer can just be kids, and families connect with a community of strength and support when they need it the most.
They are much more than a summer camp—they offer the social cure for childhood cancer. Their camp-inspired programs deliver fun, friendship, and community to 1,900 kids and 745 families year-round, all across Ontario. As a response to COVID-19, virtual camp and in-hospital programs continue to reach kids and families living in isolation, wherever they are.
