Our story…

Montréal 2021 Scotia Virtual Race’s fundraising Campaign

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected all of us at so many levels. It is particularly challenging for patients diagnosed with glioblastoma, the most advanced brain tumor for adults. Patients and their families have to cope with this diagnosis, the fear and delays to access to standard treatment or to new clinical trials and the slow progress of research to develop novel therapies.

The Cancer Therapeutics Team at MUHC has been eagerly working to design an effective and affordable strategy in a pre-clinical study testing FDA-approved drug (Auranofin)
in glioblastoma. This drug is readily available in prescription for rheumatoid Arthritis, well-known for its safety. Auranofin combined with radiation showed excellent results against brain tumor stem cells, known for their resistance to standard treatment with radiation and Temodal. The team will advance this drug from Lab research  to use it in combination with radiation in a phase II clinical trial for patients with recurrent glioblastoma,

Please support the Cancer Therapeutics Team to reach their objective and bring new hope for patients with recurrent glioblastoma by clicking on the link below to make a secure online donation.
