My Story…
I've always been a sprinter ... but endurance running has never been my strong suit. To make things worse, I'm old and washed up, and have a high likelihood of getting injured when I "race", no matter how easy I intend to take it.
But that's not what matters! What matters is participating with my family and doing my best to show my three young children that "Daddy's still got it" even if that hasn't been true for about 20 years.
What also matters is raising awareness and support for the Never Too Late program, and the incredible adult learners that are determined to graduate from high school. Not all of us are afforded the same opportunity or experience through school. These brave students are giving themselves a second chance to ultimately pursue a better life for themselves and their families.
If they can demonstrate this level of courage, surely, the least I can do is conjure up the courage to run (... or jog ... or walk) 5 km in support of their journey. Please join or support Team UP to do to the same!
Description
What would your life look like if you didn’t graduate from high school? Would your family have the same opportunities? Where would you be…right…now? Many Calgarians face barriers to getting an education. CFS and UP provide no-cost academic, social, and emotional support to young and adult learners looking to graduate. We serve anyone who would benefit from a safe, supportive classroom - regardless of where they come from, who they choose to love, how much money they have, or where they go to pray. We invite you to support your community for success in school and build strong families.
