Brain Injury Canada/Lésion cérébrale Canada

Recueillir des fonds pour l’organisme Brain Injury Canada/Lésion cérébrale Canada

The mission of Brain Injury Canada is to advance awareness, education, opportunities, and support by:

  • Advocating at a national level on issues important to the brain injury community
  • Establishing meaningful connections and collaborations with stakeholders
  • Educating and empowering people living with acquired brain injury, families/caregivers, healthcare workers, researchers, and the general public

The numbers are shocking:

  • Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) occurs at an annual rate of 500 out of 100,000 individuals.  That is approximately one person injured every 3 minutes in Canada
  • When non-traumatic brain injuries are included, close to 4% of the population lives with brain injury. That equates to over 1.5 million Canadians living with acquired brain injury.

Living with an acquired brain injury (ABI) can impact every aspect of a person’s life: physical, cognitive, emotional, social and behavioural.  ABI is more prevalent than Multiple Sclerosis, Spinal Cord Injury, HIV/AIDS and Breast Cancer combined, yet does not receive the attention it should. Help us prove that brain injury is not invisible!

Start fundraising today to support education, awareness and advocacy, ensuring the millions of Canadians living with the effects of acquired brain injury are supported, valued and engaged in their communities.

To show our appreciation for raising funds, runners raising $75 or more will receive a 2021 Brain Injury Canada Ottawa Race Weekend t-shirt.
