In the spring of 2019 there was a day when I went from having really tough cycles every month to me being in constant pain all the time.

That’s when I found out I had endometriosis - well that simplifies it. It’s when I started getting an inkling something was going on with my ovaries wasn’t “normal”. It then took many doctors and a lot of “I don’t really know much about this” type response from doctors to find the resources I needed to find Dr Singh and his clinic.

Turns out there are so many people who suffer with the kind of pain I was going through and VERY little research done to help figure out how to help them. There isn’t enough research being done, there aren’t enough doctors specializing in helping, and there isn’t enough conversation being had about helping find solutions and treatments to help those with endometriosis.

Despite having terrible cycles for years and 6 months of constant pain I consider myself lucky to have been able to see my doctor and get my hysterectomy as quickly as I did. I considered travelling out of country to find care, was in constant pain and as someone with a high pain threshold and tolerance still ended up in the ER begging for anything stronger to help with the pain and I thought I was the lucky one? Imagine what I think others are going through!

So I plan to keep talking about endometriosis and the money that’s needed to help. And this spring I’m joining the uteracers team to help raise some money. I don’t want people to suffer with this kind of pain any more so let’s try to get the research done to make some change!
