From the earliest day's of the sacramentum gladiatorum arena to the modern day's of universally organized competition one ideal has held true in the desire of countless the desire to stand proud as a champion.

Now however the ideals of a champion go beyond the desire to stand apart. From the mutual deeds of great Harold Abraham's and Eric Liddell of 1924 to the noble ambitions of Kenyan marathon runners using prize money to support there communities the ideal of a champion now asks what is it that makes a person worthy to call themselves such is it merely holding the title or are there other qualities that allows on to stand apart in this way?

To that end ideal my team is to celebrate the life of Julianne Miszk to honour her example and her goodness. A highly gifted soul Julianne fought her way through countless challenges in order to do what she loved from becoming a champion in the OFFSA league to the ride for cancer Julianne distinguished herself she stood apart but unlike many others not alone. Apart from her athletic achievements to victories of the heart she sought to share love and goodness wherever she went on the many paths she walked in her short life of 22 years she touched many lives both in her home her school and community through her desire to never give in to struggle.

 A cancer survivor from her diagnosis at a young age Julianne with the support of countless utilized her time to raise awareness in the fight against the disease.

Sadly Julianne after fighting with the heart of a great lion lost her battle to the cruel disease in July 25 2020 and passed on with her family at her side.

like many other I feel she was called home to soon, though in body she may be gone her spirit lives on in those who knew her and whom she has brought togther even in death, and we her friends and family will run the virtual Tamarack events of 2021 in Heartland forest Niagara Falls in her honour.
