Our story…
The Merrimack Valley YMCA is committed to ending food insecurity in our communities. In 2016, the Y added a weekend backpack food initiative to supplement the healthy meals and snacks that are served to childcare participants daily. This helped ensure that our youngest members and families had food when schools and childcare programs were not in session. Since then the Lawrence YMCA has added a Food Pantry that provides groceries to over 200 families a week and a Prepared Meals Program that provides dinner to 250 individuals daily. Most recently the Methuen YMCA has added a Mobile Food Market one Saturday a month, providing over 350 families with fresh groceries and produce. As the need continues to grow the Merrimack Valley YMCA is committed to expanding the Food Insecurity Programs in our communities to serve all.
