My name is Kyle and this is my first half marathon.
I started running in October 2020, during the pandemic as a safe way to exercise. I did this as part of my goals to loose some weight. I've always been a big guy, but my weight reached a high in March 2020 when I weighed 430 lbs. At that time, my wife (Laura) and I resolved to make some big changes in our lives.
Over the past 16 months switched to a plant-based diet, picked up running, got pretty good at running, and I've lost 180 lbs. I'm always up for a run, a yoga session, or a walk. I have a new outlook on life and I always want to put my new capabilities and my story to work helping others.
While we're on this journey, I'm hoping my friends and family can support another cause that I support: the fight against Cancer. While I train for the half marathon, I'll be raising funds for the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan. Please consider donating.
