Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What activities qualify for the CFB Kingston Winter Activity Challenge?
A. Fat biking, skiing, snowshoeing, skating, and walking count toward your workout minutes. You can try out the winter activities at the Garrison Golf and Curling Club (COMING SOON) or can choose to rent a fat bike or snowshoes from the Outdoor Equipment Rental at the Base Gym Sport Store to enjoy in your chosen winter wonderland. The goal is to get out, get active and have fun this winter!
Q. How is my travelling distance calculated?
A. The CFB Kingston Winter Activity Challenge provides participants with kilometres covered as they travel from Kingston to the North Pole as a result of completing exercise time in increments of 15 minutes. Time = distance.
15 mins = 30 km; 30 mins = 60 km; 60 min = 120 km.
Do not worry about converting your time to distance. Just enter your time and let us do the rest.
Q. How do I enter my workout minutes to update my standing?
A. You can enter your workout minutes under "Total Minutes Trained" on your personal Race Roster dashboard. Make sure you hit SAVE after you enter your time. Please ensure you enter your time in numbers only (e.g. for 500 mins, enter 500) and that you enter your running total every time as the system will not update your total for you.
Q. Where can I check my standing against other participants?
A. You can check to see how you rank against other participants in time or see how far you have virtually travelled by clicking here.
Q. Who qualifies for prizing?
A. Eligible prize winners include CFB Kingston military community members with valid CF One cards. Are you a CAF community member and do not have a CF One card yet? Get yours today by clicking here. (Note: NPF employees are not eligible to win).
Q. Can my exercise time apply to another initiative?
A. Yes! Did you know that the CFB Kingston Winter Activity Challenge can count towards the Canadian Armed Forces Aerobic Award of Excellence where their exercise time may be utilized toward receiving this prestigious certificate and progressive recognition seals. Click here to register for the CAF Aerobic Award of Excellence. The CFB Kingston Winter Activity Challenge can also count toward the 1st annual PSP Winter Challenge, a virtual physical activity event that will take place during the month of February and will consist of completing physical activities with the ability to win prizes - see info here.
