Help Joan raise money

For participating in 2021 Virtual Mississauga Marathon

My Story…

It's my second season with the Grand Philharmonic Choir.

Music - especially choir - is an important part of my life. It a guaranteed pick-me-up when I'm feeling stressed or overwhelmed. This year, I'm participating in the Annual Scotiabank Charity Challenge - Mississauga Marathon 5K in support of the Grand Phil.

Choir is totally my thing, running not so much. I'll be restarting Couch to 5k training as soon. I'd love to have your support! (both with the singing and running) Thanks!

What the choir has been working on this season:

As the pandemic calls for us to work together online instead of in person, we’re getting creative with an exciting new project!
The Grand Philharmonic Choir is leading a cross-Canada project involving choirs in Edmonton (Richard Eaton Singers); Halifax (Symphony Nova Scotia Chorus and Camerata Singers); and the Montreal area (Société chorale de Saint-Lambert).
We will all work together, connecting online, to record a beautiful new work that speaks of our experience in this pandemic.  Take This Thread is written for choir, piano and violin by Vancouver composer Katerina Gimon, with text by Montreal poet Lauren Peat.
Each singer records his or her voice individually, and a recording engineer brings it all together.
It will become a video that all can experience. We hope you will join us when it receives its world premiere in the spring!
