My Story…
2020 was overwhelming for everyone. There's no arguing that. But when my (elderly) mum suddenly needed heart surgery in preparation for cancer surgery - and at the beginning of the first lockdown no less - the staff on the HIU (Heart Investigation Unit) at Hamilton General were more accommodating than I expected. They allowed me to attend appointments with her, kept me in the information loop, and let me see her post-surgery. Sure, they were efficient and professional. But they were also human. I can't thank them enough for that.
