My Story…
April 25th I will be participating in the Bumrun, a virtual 5km run/walk in support of colon cancer awareness and prevention. I began participating in this annual event when my late husband was diagnosed with colon cancer. Canada has one of the highest colon cancer rates in the world, affecting 1 in 13 Canadians. But if everyone got screened, 95% of deaths could be prevented. That is why I run, or should say walk quickly.
This year, in addition to other charities, Bumrun has partnered with not for profit Colorectal Cancer Resource & Action Network (CCRAN), whose funds go toward colon cancer research, enhancing patient support programs for families living with colon cancer, and raising awareness of colon cancer screening and prevention. I know first hand how extraordinary they are. 100% of what I raise I have asked be provided to CCRAN.
