My Story…
Dear Friends,
The Vine Trail Coalition in the Napa Valley has been working tirelessly to complete an amazing 47-mile cycling, running, and walking trail connecting the whole valley safely! This path is designed to provide locals and visitors with a beautiful pathway from the north end of the valley in Calistoga all the way to the ferry terminal in Vallejo!
This year, I am joining Team Clydesdales: Fluggers Flyers to honor our friend Doug Burnett and to raise money for The Vine Trail. Doug Burnett (The Flugger) is a former Olympian Cyclist, and is also a retired Air Force Pilot who later flew 747's for United Airlines.
I am personally committing to the 470-mile cycling challenge for May, along with a 47-mile running challenge on the side to honor our friend Doug and to (hopefully) inspire you to donate to this very worthy cause. Doug will be cheering us on as he recovers from a setback, and reclaims his leadership role within the Clydesdales.
Please help me raise money for the Vine Trail. It is a most wonderful addition to the Napa Valley. The Vine Trail is enjoyed daily by young and old alike and continues to be a labor of love for many. It is wonderful to see families, tourists, and lots of furry pets walking with their owners and enjoying the meandering pathway. I personally use the Vine Trail weekly for my runs and cycling adventures.
No amount is too small.
Fun Facts: Doug rode in the road team, and competed in a 4000-meter road team pursuit in a World Championship in Frankfort, Germany in 1966. In Mexico City, in 1967, Doug rode in an Olympic Team altitude test followed by riding as an Alternate in the 1968 Olympics 4000-meter individual pursuit. Doug planned, led, and cared for us Clydesdales for our Friday Rides for years and gathered the group for innumerable Lost Friday Lunches as we gathered with our comrades.
And hey. I know my goal of $4,747.47 is flying high, but all I can say is that sometimes when you shoot for the moon - it happens! And...I wanted to play with all of the 4000's, 747, 47, and 470's!!
Training up,
Laura
Description
The Napa Valley Vine Trail Coalition’s Month of Movement Challenge is fitness and fun focused fundraising for all ages.
The VINE TRAIL vision is for a safe and scenic way for you, me, our kids, friends and pets to get around the Napa Valley. Currently 20 miles of trail segments, one day you’ll be able to take a Ferry from San Francisco to Vallejo and then head by foot or pedal safely 47 miles to Calistoga on the VINE TRAIL!
We need your help to make this happen.
The Vine Trail Coalition (a 501c3 nonprofit) raises private funds for trail design, engineering and maintenance PLUS the matching funds for local, state and federal grants. Your donation dollar typically leverages $3-$4 in grant funding.
Your support helps move this project forward financially and through the powerful show of community support.
Thank you and together Let’s Build the VINE TRAIL!
