My Story…
Hey everyone! Thank you for visiting the Annual Quack Out Cholangiocarcinoma page for Team Megan!
After suffering for months from random GI and symptoms of "heart burn," I was diagnosed in October 2020 with Stage 4 inoperable Cholangiocarcinoma. This cancer started in the bile duct between my liver and my pancreas, and quickly invaded and enlarged my liver, and had spread to my lungs. My family and I were absolutely devastated, and I could see my future slipping quickly through my hands.
This is an aggressive, fairly unknown cancer that doesn't get the awareness and visibility of more survivable cancers like breast and colon cancer. With more funding and research, we can help make Cholangiocarcinoma more survivable, and spread awareness so that early detection and successful treatment becomes the norm. We're all just looking for more time on this Earth with our family and friends.
Right now I am one of the lucky ones, and my body is responding to my current chemotherapy well. I now have hope that I will have more years left on this Earth, and I will not take them for granted. This organization is very important to me and I'd like to help them just like they've helped me. Thank you for visiting this page, and if you can please donate or join us in the fight to help Quack Out Cholangiocarcinoma!
