Help for People with Mounting Medical Bills
For almost four decades, Help Hope Live has been showing people how to use community-based fundraising to cover the cost of out-of-pocket medical expenses. These efforts play a critical role in helping our clients recover and maintain their health and independence.

“I continue to marvel at my improved physical and emotional state throughout this event.”
Rachelle Ledbetter is a double-lung transplant candidate and Help Hope Live Brand Ambassador. She participated in our inaugural Hope Travels event to support the nonprofit that has made such a difference in her transplant journey: “If I could give one word of advice to a pre-transplant patient, it would be Help Hope Live. They are like my extended family.”
“Made it out to a great paved local trail today! Jackson biked almost two miles! We are eternally grateful for all the work Help Hope Live has done.”
Living with central cord disease, a form of muscular dystrophy, 12-year-old Jackson Epstein still loves all the same things that his peers do: video games, his cat, participating in youth sports, and staying active outdoors. Due to his diagnosis, Jackson needs mobility support to get out and fully enjoy his environment. Thanks to a fundraising campaign and a special gift from Help Hope Live and Flyers Charities, Jackson got a customized accessible bike last year. Today, he and his family are relishing the opportunity to get out and ride.
“It’s here. It happened. I now have my own personal Indego exoskeleton!”
Rob Drescher sustained a paralyzing spinal cord injury when he was 14. Community support has been a critical part of his journey, including a fundraising campaign with Help Hope Live for a device that would change Rob’s life: an Indego exoskeleton.
While the Indego would support better circulation, lower risk of pressure sores, and greater movement for Rob, his insurance refused to cover the device, leaving his family with an impossible out-of-pocket price tag.
Last year, he reached his goal and got his Indego: “Everybody at Help Hope Live is extremely responsive…and there’s the financial accountability aspect: the fact that I don’t have to manage the funds has been a tremendous advantage to us that has made our fundraising journey easier.”
