My Story…
Dear friends! I am running 30 km as part of the Monarch Ultra Relay, a 1,800-km event to raise awareness for monarch butterflies and funds for Camp Kawartha, a non-profit organization committed to nature education and environmental stewardship for youth.
My leg is Day 6, Port Colborne, Sept 24.
Will you support me? Thank you!
peas,
Kat

Let's start with this beautiful migration...
Monarchs are known as "the wandering butterfly," because of their spectacular multi-generational transatlantic flight from Mexico to Canada. Word.
Monarchs were discovered in New Zealand in the 19th century.
There's lots of fake news about the origins of their name, but the most legit story is that Samuel H. Scudder, a leading figure in entomology and paleontology, published the name in 1874.
In Canada, the official Monarch is Queen Elizabeth II, whereas the Monarch butterfly is a Species at Risk. But we can change that. Let's not lose this iconic species.
