My Story…
Hi, I am Marissa and thank you for visiting my page!
I have been battling Migraines since I was 6 years old. So young that I did not understand why I would temporarily go blind. Why would I just randomly become immobile and get sick? Unfortunately, my mother and her father also lived with Migraines so my parents knew exactly what was happening. After many years of neurologists, pain management and medications, I was finally able to understand my diagnosis and identify my triggers. I am 32 years old now and although more informed, I do not have it completely under control yet. I will still get a migraine when I become extremely excited (my wedding day!), stressed or even when a drastic change in weather occurs. Being able to research the history of migraines and why they occur has really transformed the real world treatment of those who suffer. My treatment has gone from nonexistent, to oral medication, to subcutaneous shots, back to oral medication and none of this would have been possible without the proper research.
