My Story…
PSAC-BC is supporting the Tears to Hope Society’s 3rd annual Tears to Hope Relay and Virtual 10K Run taking place on June 26 and 27, 2021, in honour of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls.
Funds raised in this relay go to the Tears to Hope Society and assist them in meeting their mission of providing a healthy and safe community for Indigenous women and girls, through inclusive activities that encourage health and wellness of the body and mind because ‘She is Somebody’ – this message is important and necessary because disgraceful parts of Canada’s history contributes to the need. PSAC acknowledges the impacts of systemic racism, be it in our workplaces, in schools, in policing, in the justice system, in healthcare, in our union, and so forth. Many missing and murdered, along with their families, faced dehumanization, discrimination and racism when encountering our various institutions, and the problem is still there. We all have a great deal of work to do to eliminate racism and discrimination.
This relay is one way in which you may take some action. Funding raised supports Indigenous women and girls and aids to eradicate racism by promoting and sharing the Tears to Hope message: She is Somebody.
Your support can aid in the transformation of systemic and societal values that have worked to maintain colonial violence and is greatly appreciated!
