My Story…
I'm excited to be involved in this wonderful cause. Walking is a part of my everyday life, so now I get to walk and even bike for the next month for a much needed new medical clinic in Haiti.
I went on a mission trip to Haiti a year after their terrible earthquake. It was an incredibly hard and a life altering trip for me. I worked mainly with a fun after school program with children in a very poverty stricken rural area. It was humbling working with these children, who barely had the necessities of life, yet they were so hungry to learn and wonderful focused well behaved children. It was a privilege really to serve in this part of the world that has so many needs. Medical clinics are rare and people walk for days sometimes to go to the clinic. When I was there a team of Canadian mostly Albertan nurses and a doctor were serving the community. The people would come often first thing in the morning when the gates opened and wait all day in a line up or on wooden benches to be looked at. The clinics all over Haiti are much like this one completely reliant on foreign fundraising to keep their doors open. Please join me and my team in our efforts to raise some money for these beautiful people.
