Help Corey raise money

For participating in ASICS Blue Jean Mile

My Story…

MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS MONTH: For more than 65 years, May has been observed as National Mental Health Awareness Month by organizations such as the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and Mental Health America (MHA). Of course mental health is important all year-round, but emphasizing these issues in May gives us the chance to come together to show our support and efforts for those who suffer from mental disorders and illnesses.

For 2021’s Mental Health Awareness Month NAMI will continue to amplify the message of “You Are Not Alone.” We will use this time to focus on the healing value of connecting in safe ways, prioritizing mental health and acknowledging that it’s okay to not be okay through NAMI’s blog, personal stories, videos, digital toolkits, social media engagements and national events.

Together, we can realize our shared vision of a nation where anyone affected by mental illness can get the appropriate support and quality of care to live healthy, fulfilling lives — a nation where no one feels alone in their struggle.

BLUE JEAN MILE:  Follow in the footsteps of ASICS elite athlete Johnny Gregorek by throwing on your favorite pair of blue jeans and racing one mile in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month. Last year, Gregorek became the fastest ever to run the Blue Jean Mile at 4:06.25, running to raise awareness and funds for the National Alliance on Mental Illness of NYC. The Race Roster run is FREE to participate from May 1 - 31, 2021. ASICS will donate $40,625 to NAMI-NYC, and you, too, can donate during the race registration process.

Description

With so many people affected by mental illness in these unpredictable times, will I let any obstacle stand in my way? No way! That’s why I’m participating in the ASICS Blue Jean Mile in support of NAMI-NYC. It’s my turn to do something powerful about achieving Mental Health for All.

NAMI-NYC Builds Better Lives by providing support, education and advocacy programs for family members and individuals living with mental illness. As a mental health leader in New York City, NAMI-NYC provides the most comprehensive family and peer support system.

I'm running the Blue Jean Mile to to promote awareness and raise funds to support NAMI-NYC's free-of-charge services for families, and help build community by letting people know they are not alone.
