My Story…
I am participating in the BIAWW Walk, Run and Roll event to help raise funds for them because the BIAWW (with director Lynda Abshoff) has done so much over the last few years.
They've created a program that helps to educate and bring about awareness of the impact of concussions. They've raised money to give away hundreds of helmets to kids who can't afford one.
They've set up support chats, speakers, fitness classes and card-making sessions. It's so helpful to be able to connect with others who can understand what you are going through.
They actually sponsored a group of us brain injury survivors so we could go to Camp Dawn a few years ago. I would not have been able to afford it on my own in any way and it was such an amazing experience. I made good friends there that are still in my life to this day.
Covid put a damper on many of the fundraising events that were previously organized but thankfully the BIAWW has been able to pivot amidst the changes.
Since a bad accident last year, my mobility is limited however I decided to set a goal of 20kms. I am happy to say I have already hit the halfway mark of that goal!
I'm reaching out to ask (for those of you who can afford it) to please sponsor me while I walk in this event to please donate to the Brain Injury Association of Wellington Waterloo so they can continue doing the wonderful things they have started.
Thanks in advance for your support, even just for cheering me on!
