My Story…
You may know that I volunteer on the Board of Management for Cecil Community Centre, a vibrant hub serving the neighbourhoods of Chinatown/Kensington. Cecil does remarkable work -- for seniors, children, youth and for some of our most vulnerable neighbours. During the pandemic, they valiantly kept their doors open so that people would have somewhere to go during the day. They have hosted vaccine clinics reaching many community members who faced barriers to other services. And they are safely bringing back in-person programming to reduce isolation and improve the health of the neighbourhood.
I am participating in Cecil's team in the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon this weekend and hope you will consider sponsoring me for our 5k run/walk to raise funds for Cecil's programming. Cecil Community Centre is a City of Toronto neighbourhood centre but we must raise our own funds for programming. If you don't care to donate, or have other priorities, no pressure. But I know many of you care about Toronto, its neighbourhoods, and keeping this city healthy and affordable.
Thanks so much for considering.
