My Story…
Hello,
I hope everyone has been staying safe and healthy – 2021 has turned out to be just as wild as 2020 was – the roller coaster of hope & optimism mixed with uncertainties continues – our children and young people have gone back to school and activities – and we all have our fingers crossed it’s going to last this time – and throughout all of this, children’s mental health continues to be as important than ever.
On the positive news side – I was very pleased to see that our efforts working with Premier Doug Ford and his government resulted in one of the largest annualized funding increases to children’s mental health ever!!!
Global News - Ontario government spending $31M more for children, youth mental health services
But as we continue to battle this pandemic – and families continue to do the best they can trying to balance the stresses of continuing to work remotely while trying to keep some semblance of normal – we are seeing a marked increase in children’s mental health issues.
This year I’ll be doing two runs – an actual in person 10K race on October 17th and I’ll be running a virtual half marathon on October 24th – the “virtual” Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Half Marathon – and per usual I am raising funds for children’s mental health.
Our daughter Abby would have turned 22 this September, and one thing I know for sure is, she would have hated this pandemic and would have struggled with it the same way we all are.
Please help support children’s mental health by donating today.
Or joining our team and run or walk virtually to help raise awareness for this important cause.
At a bare minimum, please talk to your children and help them understand what they can do if they feel like they are losing control.
Thank you – stay safe and be well.
