Help Peter raise money

Peter Dawson holds a PhD from York University with expertise in International Human Rights Law. He has a certificate in advanced mediation from Osgoode Hall Law School and recently graduated with honours in alternative dispute resolution from Humber College. He is a certified mediator and a trauma recovery facilitator and teaches at the university level. 

Peter has run in the New York and Toronto marathons. Peter is running 5 kilometers a day, 3 days a week in the Virtual Scotia Bank Marathon during the months of September and October to raise funds for the Toronto Gatehouse, Center for Recovery of Childhood Sexual Trauma which opened in 1998. 

The Gatehouse provides non-threaten space for children to disclose abuse to police and child welfare agencies. It provides program support for survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Canadian research shows 10% of Canadians report being sexually victimized before age 18 (Afifi et al., 2014). Mental health and serious addictions issues are experienced by adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Donations will help to save and transform the lives of survivors and their love ones. 

Sponsors can contribute to the fund raising effort with the purchase of arm or chest identifying patches which will be worn by Peter. Contributors can contribute on the basis of total days run or total kilometers run for the months of September and October.
