My Story…
This is the year Charlie and I both turn 75. While we would have loved to have celebrated with you in person, COVID prevents us from hosting a large gathering. Instead, we have decided to participate in the Scotiabank Virtual Marathon. In the month of October we will walk 75 km. for the Patronato Project of Amistad Canada.
Description
For ten years, AMISTAD CANADA (AC) has been working to improve the lives of Mexicans-in-need through health and education Projects delivered in partnership with twelve Mexican NGOs.
Projects include: mobile medical-dental service to remote communities; healthy school meals; underwriting medical care for sick and disabled children; supplemental classes in subjects such as literacy, computer skills, English and the arts; primary to post-secondary scholarships; a school for the Deaf; and a therapy centre for children with various disabilities.
AC participation in the Scotiabank Charity Challenge will provide Mexican-Canadians, and other runners who are attached to Mexico, an opportunity to support these initiatives.
