My Story…
My mother turned 95 this year. This Thanksgiving I am most grateful that I have more time with her. Not everyone has been this lucky during the pandemic. Some were not even able to say goodbye. I’m grateful to the staff at Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre for continuing to provide good care in times of crisis. As we learned in the news, this was not always the case in some nursing homes. We’re lucky to have such dedicated and caring staff at UCCC.
However the pandemic and the lack of regular contact, robbed many seniors of their memory and cognitive abilities. In this year’s walkathon I’ll be raising money for the music therapy program, crucial in slowing down dementia.
