My Story…
Carrie and I have recently moved into Matthew House's main residence in Toronto to be part of their team welcoming refugees to Canada. Matthew House gets its name from Matthew 25:35 "I was hungry and you gave me food. I was thirsty and you gave me drink. I was a stranger and you welcomed me.". We've seen first hand how walking beside new Canadians helps newcomers become better Canadians and ultimately creates a better Canada. Their stories are inspiring and we feel privileged to know them and be a help in their journey to becoming independent. This is a private organization without governmental support so we appreciate your generosity to help Matthew House do what it's been doing best for 23 years.
Description
Matthew House is a community of homes that welcome, shelter and assist newly arrived refugee claimants in Toronto. Our desire is to restore refugee's dignity and hope by providing emotional and physical support in a homelike setting to help them heal from their journey and establish new lives in Canada. When we run for Matthew House, we send a message that says "my Toronto is your Toronto" for vulnerable newcomers like refugees. Join our team and help transform the lives of newly-arrived refugees. Thank you!
