My Story…
This October, in honour of Autism Awareness Month and my sister, Taylor, I am tackling the STWM hat trick event – a 5k, a 10k and (my first ever) half marathon! My goal is to raise $1000 for the Asperger’s Society of Ontario (ASO) a non-profit organization that provides FREE services to people with Asperger’s/ASD1 and their families across Ontario.
My sister has taught me a lot. She’s taught me not to label people because that doesn’t define who they are or limit what they can do. She is a prime example of working through your challenges. Her autism has never and will never stop her from doing things that she wants to do. When Taylor puts her mind to it, she can and will do anything. It’s that inspiration along with the knowledge that my efforts will help other families like mine get the support they need when they need it most, that will help carry me across the finish line this year.
