Help us raise money

For participating in 2021 Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon

Our story…

Last year you helped us to raise money for Women's Mental Health, and while that's a very important issue, this time Ed and I are asking you to donate to the Alzheimer Society.

We lost Dad recently to Alzheimer's.  The last time I saw him, about a year before, I wasn't always sure if he knew who I was but he could still cover it well and Mom was always there for him to smooth it over.  He didn't understand why Mom wouldn't let him drive and had a hard time choosing what to order in a restaurant.

Alzheimer's disease is a chronic neurodegenerative disease that destroys brain cells, causing thinking ability and memory to deteriorate over time. Alzheimer's disease is not a normal part of aging, and is irreversible.

The progression was quick, and he spent his last months in the hospital once it became impossible for Mom to continue to meet his ever-increasing needs.  Loss of mobility, inability to communicate, constant sleeping, and eventually losing the ability to swallow food and drink weren't far behind.

Please donate what you can..

Thank you..
