Our story…
La Catalina Foundation's mission is to support education needs of students in the rural community of La Manzanilla, Mexico. This past year, scholarship assistance was provided to more than 60 youth. In addition, English language classes were taught to 200 elementary and middle school students.
Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, students and teachers are facing another challenging school year. La Catalina Foundation is hoping to increase their support this year through again participating in the annual Scotiabank Toronto marathon as a Project Partner of AMISTAD CANADA. Funds donated will be used to create additional scholarships, to assist students with online learning and to expand our English language program.

Description
For ten years, AMISTAD CANADA (AC) has been working to improve the lives of Mexicans-in-need through health and education Projects delivered in partnership with twelve Mexican NGOs.
Projects include: mobile medical-dental service to remote communities; healthy school meals; underwriting medical care for sick and disabled children; supplemental classes in subjects such as literacy, computer skills, English and the arts; primary to post-secondary scholarships; a school for the Deaf; and a therapy centre for children with various disabilities.
AC participation in the Scotiabank Charity Challenge will provide Mexican-Canadians, and other runners who are attached to Mexico, an opportunity to support these initiatives.
