About Educating Girls of Rural China:
Educating Girls of Rural China (EGRC) was established in Canada in 2005 by Chinese Canadian Founder Ching Tien, with the belief that educated women have educated children, educating women is a fundamental way to lift people out of poverty, close the gender gap and build better societies for all.
In 16 years, EGRC has provided financial sponsorship and emotional support to 1400 girls and young women from rural regions of Western China, mainly living in Gansu Province, to receive a secondary and post-secondary education. EGRC sponsored students have achieved over 99% graduation rate. EGRC’s work has been supported by a wide range of individuals, organizations and businesses, both internationally and in China.
