My Story…
As someone who suffers from this chronic and debilitating disease, that has taken over my life over and over again, fundraising for this organization and raising awareness is very important to me and I am asking for your help.
Endometriosis is estimated to affect 1 in 10 reproductive age women and unmeasured numbers of transgender, gender non-conforming and non-binary individuals. It occurs when tissue similar to the endometrium, which lines the uterus, grows outside of the uterus and onto other organs throughout the body forming lesions, nodules, cysts and adhesions. This can cause many medical conditions including pain, infertility, gastrointestinal problems and internal scarring, to name a few. Endometriosis is more than just a reproductive system disease, it affects many more systems in the body.
There is no known cause or cure for endometriosis. Often times it takes many years of suffering before one receives an accurate diagnosis, which can only be confirmed through surgery. This is due to lack of funding from the government for research and resources, a lack of knowledge and awareness in the medical community, as well as a lack of awareness in the community as a whole. Unfortunately, this is partly to do with the stigma that still surrounds menstruation.
So I ask you to please join me in raising awareness and fighting for a cure. By donating to The Endo’s Network “Run to End Endo” you will be helping this charity to raise awareness, initiate more educational programming, further build their support network and reduce current barriers to diagnosis. Every little bit helps!
Thank you to everyone who has donated. It means a lot!
