Our story…
My husband, Lucas, and I are the proud parents of three boys: two on earth and one in heaven. We have our oldest son, Baylis, our angel, John Ellis, and our rainbow baby, Stanton.
I am proud to partner with ICP Care because I am passionate about spreading awareness of Cholestasis of Pregnancy. On January 6, 2017 and at 35 gestational weeks, we lost our child, John Ellis, due to an undiagnosed case of Cholestasis of pregnancy. Taking the antibiotic amoxicillin triggered Cholestasis of Pregnancy, and my severe itching was mistreated as an allergic reaction. Since then, it has been my life’s passion to spread awareness and stop the unnecessary stillbirths and complications caused by ICP.
This event benefits ICP Care and our mission. ICP Care’s mission is to help pregnant mothers who experience the high-risk pregnancy condition called Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy (ICP) deliver healthy babies.
Cholestasis (ICP) is a pregnancy condition that causes an elevation of bile acids and can lead to stillbirth and infant loss. This condition’s number one symptom is moderate to severe itching. Unfortunately, three of our ICP Care Members have experienced stillbirth and infant loss due to this condition. We hold this fundraising event in their honor, as well as to raise funding that will go towards helping prevent unnecessary losses from occurring in the future. With sadness, there is also hope, and thankfully there are treatments that can help ICP families have successful pregnancy outcomes.
ICP Care is needed as it provides patient support and education for protective measures. ICP Care raises public awareness, supports the advancement of research, and improves health care practices. As an organization, we are honored to help connect, support, educate, and empower those affected by ICP.
Thank you for helping us celebrate and honor all the babies who have left us too soon due to Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy. With your help, we know ICP Care has and will continue to be a vital part in helping women have successful pregnancies by “fighting the itch” of ICP together.
