Help us raise money

For participating in Moving for Melanoma Delaware 5K 2021

Our story…

This is our 10th year participating! Jessica Tyrol lost her battle with melanoma on May 15, 2012 after only being diagnosed in October, 2011. Jess Tyrol graduated from the University of Delaware in 2010 with degrees in Finance and Marketing. She was a beloved sister of Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority, where she was not only an amazing sister, but also a wonderful friend. Jess had recently started a new chapter in her life: she was working as an Equity Analyst at Bloomberg and had moved to Philadelphia with friends from college when she was diagnosed with melanoma in October. Less than seven months later, she was taken from us. Jess was an amazing daughter, sister, and friend. We miss her so much and think of her everyday. We know she is watching over us and looking down on us each day. Let's get together to raise money in her honor to hopefully one day beat this horrible disease.

This year team JVT will be hosting a 10 year reunion at The Tyrol Family home in Ringoes, NJ, where we will also complete the 5k. If you are unable to attend in-person the event may be completed virtually or you may simply just donate. Please see below for details from the Moving for Melanoma Foundation. You can find more information about the in-person reunion on our Facebook event page. Additionally, if you join our team I will email you directly with the details.

Please RSVP to the in-person reunion by clicking here.

Your health and safety are our highest priority!

Out of an abundance of caution to the Moving for Melanoma 5K participants and the local community, we are moving to a Virtual 5K for our event in September.

We are pleased to announce that we will have our 5K as a Virtual Event. This can be a swim, bike, run or walk. Your Place in your Space!

Run/ Walk, bike or swim a 5k, then enter your time on the Races2Run website and print your certificate.  Given that this is not a live event, we (the moving for melanoma organization) will not be distributing T-shirts.

As in past events, we value the participation of TEAMS as a way to honor lost loved one and celebrate survivors.  Please send us pictures of your team participants in their special team T-shirts. We can deliver sunscreen and giveaways to you for your event.

You will have until September 30th to complete your event!

You can participate from anywhere so out of state family and friends can join in too!

We understand that this change is for the best possible way to keep all of our family and friends safe, and we would love to have you as part of the event.

We continue to follow guidance from public health officials and government agencies, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

Thank you for your patience, understanding and flexibility during this extraordinary time. We are looking forward to having a safe and wonderful virtual event and we will see you in person in 2022!

Thank you and God Bless,

Moving 4 Melanoma

Anna Marie Farro
