Y'all know I run anyway. But the last year my running has had a higher purpose. 

Tommy Rivers Puzey is a world-class human. And endurance athlete.   One who has been atop my list of those that inspire me to be a better person. Last summer, Rivs was hospitalized for then undiagnosed respiratory symptoms. After tests, tests, and more tests -- from Covid to rhabdo to the bubonic plague (yep), he was eventually diagnosed with a very rare and very aggressive leukemia (Primary Pulmonary NK T-Cell Lymphoma). Chemo, ECMO, and too many ICU days but Rivs is home now.

Rivs is a father, husband, brother, son, and loyal friend. He has spent his life helping others, it's our turn to return the favor. He is not one to ask for help, contrary to that, he's usually the one offering it. He would rather sort this out on his own, but he wasn't given that choice. 

The goal of this fundraiser is to allow his family to focus their energy on continuing to help him heal, and not be consumed by the mounting medical costs for his life-saving treatments. Let's continue to lift them up by doing what Rivs does best -- cover ground, breathe, help others, and share the journey.

From Aug 1 through Aug 22, the goal is to move your body for 37 miles -- in honor of Rivs' 37th birthday.  Run, ride, hike, walk, swim, paddle, canoe, snowshoe, whatever. Just move your body, breathe, and sweat. Because after all, in the words of Tommy's brother, Jacob, "isn't it a beautiful thing to sweat?".  Yes, yes it is.

I am committed to raising $822 for this fundraiser. 8/22 is Tommy's birthday, so $822 is where I'll start. Of course, I'd love to smash that. Anything you can contribute will help, but if a financial contribution isn't in the cards, please consider sharing this fundraiser and following my journey on social media. 

The challenge is to run 37 miles in 22 days.  I will do this and more, but what more is still TBD.  Stay tuned :)
