Shelter Health Services
Health issues can cause and prolong homelessness and become a barrier to self-sufficiency, education and upward mobility.
The Shelter Health Services Clinic, located at the Salvation Army Center of Hope Shelter, provides free healthcare and medical services to the uninsured, homeless women and children who live there.
Your Taking Steps Race Sponsorship helps provide this free healthcare to more than 1,000 women and children per year.
St. Hermione Home
St. Hermione Home is a 501c3 tax-exempt ministry that weekly serves the homes of our area by providing free medical care, clothing and food, as well as Bible Studies and Prayer Groups. Additionally, it is in the process of providing a home...for women without homes...who are also pregnant and have chosen to deliver their child.
Whole person healing will be provided to each resident by providing a safe and supportive home for these women to give birth and spiritually develop and nurture the mother and child bond. Additionally, residents will be eligible to enroll in a community college to work on a ten-year associate degree.
The St. Hermione Home will also offer access to mental health services, as well as training to learn parenting, personal and professional skills, thereby enabling self-sufficiency, leaving homelessness and living a quality life as a family.
St. Hermione was one of the first Holy Unmercenary Saints, the daughter of St. Phillip the Deacon, a trained physician who bought a house and established a free medical clinic and housing for the poor.
