My Story
Since I joined the Young Center as its Philanthropy Director in March of 2021, I have learned so much about the dire impact unjust immigration laws and policies have had particularly on unaccompanied and separated children. The system does not treat them as children, and it should.
I am in awe and inspired each day by the passionate team of Child Advocates (volunteers, attorneys, and social workers) who tirelessly work each day to ensure the safety and best interests of children stuck in detention and facing deportation. Coupled with our incredibly smart and strategic Policy team who are persistently knocking on doors of DC lawmakers to urge them to reimagine an immigration system that considers children's best interests.
As a first generation Thai-American, I am grateful to my parents and to have been born within U.S. borders. I never take this privilege for granted. Join me in going for a carefree run, in order to raise funds to support the work the Young Center does to ensure immigrant children can someday share this privilege with us.
