Our story…
To Charlotte’s family,
On January 10th 2020, we had to say goodbye to our little girl, “notre petite cocotte”, much too soon. When we found out that we were expecting our first child, we were so excited to meet this little angel, our hearts filled with love ready to accompany her throughout her life’s journey. Sadly we don’t need to tell you at what point the news of her condition broke our hearts, but what we do want to share with you is just how much the Roger Neilson foundation and the exceptional support team supported us, giving us a shoulder to lean on so that we could get back on solid ground.
It’s thanks to them that we are able to cherish Charlotte’s everlasting presence in our lives, proudly say that she was and always will be our first child, and understand just how lucky Théo is to have a big sister looking out for him.
The Butterfly Run is the opportunity for us to share this message with all of you and to take this moment to remember all of the little angels that left us much too soon.
We also want to tell you how for us, this day is just the same as any other. Not a day goes by where we don’t think about our little girl and we are happy to do so thanks to the support we received from the team at Roger Neilson. As the proverb says: “If you don’t remember somebody out loud, they die twice”. If you find yourself wondering how to approach us about Charlotte, or likely any other parents in this same situation, remember this simple phrase.
This past year has been very difficult on all of us for many reasons, but this race gives us a reason to celebrate Charlotte with her guardian angels. We hope many of you can join us, but we also understand just how busy everyone is over the Thanksgiving long weekend. For those of you who can make it out, we plan on hosting a 5km race followed by a 2km walk, both leaving from our house, on the morning of Saturday October 9th. Further details will be shared shortly to those participating.
Whether you participate in the run/walk or not, we invite you to make a donation to the cause under the team name “Famille de Charlotte“ if you wish, understanding that we each support many other important causes that are near and dear to us.
Lastly, if we can ask you just one thing, it’s that if someone asks you what you are thankful for this year as you are celebrating Thanksgiving, say that you are thankful for having known Charlotte and being able to watch over her.
Thank you,
Vicki, Sébastien, Théo
