Aloha!

I have a Congenital Heart Disease(CHD) called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.  I was diagnosed at 20 weeks gestation.  Babies born with my CHD have to undergo their first open heart surgery usually within the first 7 to 10 days of life to survive.  I had my first open heart surgery at 4 days of life.  I’ve since undergone a total of 10 surgeries.  I am also a tubie.  I was strictly tube fed for the first 3 years of my life.  In the past 2 years I have transitioned to solid foods and am hoping to be a tubie graduate early in 2022!  I have to go a minimum of 6 months without using my g-tube for any nutrition or medication. I am almost there!!   

I also have a genetic syndrome called Koolen de Vries syndrome.  My parents were originally told that their biggest goal was to make sure I am hygienically independent and that I may never talk.  At 5 years old, I am very independent and don’t stop talking.  I have beat every odd that was stacked up against me and continue to show the world just how strong I am.   

I am a Wish Kid!  I was granted one of the last travel Wishes before the pandemic shut the world down in 2020.  My trip made an everlasting effect on me and my well being.  It has gotten me through some of the hardest moments which included my 3rd open heart surgery during the middle of the pandemic.
