My Story
I've decided to attempt the Toronto Zoo's Tiger Trek race in 2022, combining my love of animals together with my goals to improve my fitness and healthy lifestyle choices.
The Tiger Trek consists of a virtual 5k race plus an in person 10k race on Sept 17. And while I don't expect to be able to run 10k, I am hoping to complete the 5k at a run and at least half of the 10k running.
Donations for me and my team go to the Toronto Zoo Wildlife Conservancy to assist with conservation, breeding and reintroduction efforts of many animals. This year, being the year of the Tiger, funds are going towards the Sumatran and Amur Tiger programs, as well as towards construction of a climbing structure, feeding pole and zipline in each Sumatran tiger exhibit to support natural behaviours and enrichment.
Please join me in my Tiger Trek by donating. Every little bit helps!
Description
With a goal of $40,000, funds raised from this year’s event will continue to support your Zoo’s conservation breeding and reintroduction programs. In addition, a portion of the funds will also support the construction of a 10-foot climbing structure, a 12-foot feeding pole and a zip line in each of the outdoor Sumatran tiger exhibits. These installations were recommended by the Tiger SSP Care Manual to stimulate species-appropriate behaviours and provide enriching opportunities for the cats.
