My Story…
Hi everyone, last year I participated in my first half-marathon in memory of my dad. It was a virtual race and with generous contributions from friends and family, I was able to raise $2,625 for the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. I finished the race in 2 hours and 15 minutes and had my family waiting for me at the finish line.
This year, I will be participating in the in-person race in Toronto and hoping to match or exceed last year's contribution. Also, my goal is to improve my time and finish the race in 2 hours!
Below is the story that inspired me to continue participating in this race:
My dad, Bichitra Dhal, was an avid runner and had signed up to run this race in 2019. Unfortunately, while training for the race he ruptured his Achilles and could not participate. I lost my dad to cancer in 2020, but he jogged and biked until the day of his surgery. He was a patient at Princess Margaret and Toronto General Hospital. He is my inspiration and I am running the race in his honor.
