I Run With Refugees
Hi, beloved friends!
I am asking you to join me in supporting refugees in my home city, Toronto! Canada welcomes tens of thousands of refugee claimants each year and over 40% of them spend as least the first part of their journey in Toronto.
This year, I would like to team up with you to raise $2,000 CAD for Adam House, a wonderful local organization, to support their effort in completing the much-needed renovation projects at their main refugee shelter. The organization's overall fundraising goal is $60,000.
Our volunteers will be walking from Adam House to Booth House, a distance of 8.5km, on Sat, Oct 15, 2022.
And I will be running a half-marathon the following day!
To make our challenge more fun, I will do my practice runs in several interesting immigrant neighborhoods and post some facts and stories about immigrants in our city. I also collected/prepared several giveaways, including a homemade meal using recipes from our friends at Adam House, to share with our supporters!

Where would you go if you had nothing and you knew no one?
Having nothing and knowing no one is often just the beginning of the barriers new refugees face. Often times there is a language barrier. Refugee claimants are dealing with numerous issues-trauma that was experienced in their home country and on their journey to Canada, and often living with the anguish of leaving family behind.
Adam House provides refugee claimants with clean and safe living accommodations. The staff at Adam House provide assistance and advice with immigration procedures, primarily to residents and former residents. They provide referrals to legal services, medical assistance, and community resources. However, Adam House is much more than shelter or the services they provide. Adam House is home. A place where residents find friendship and support-from staff and each other.
Every dollar raised enables Adam House to continue welcoming refugees.
