My Story…
Those of you who know me personally, know that I’m someone who takes immense pride in getting out of my comfort zone whenever I can, whether that’s in the form of taking cold showers, quitting caffeine, starting my day at 4 in the morning, or running 6 miles a day for 30 days straight.
I hit my week 8 milestone for my half marathon prep yesterday and as I was out there on yet another long run I had two things on my mind, the first of which was wondering if I really look as cool as my friends say I do when I wear my baseball hats backwards (JK, I know I look badass!)
The second and more important thing on my mind was just how incredible this experience has been for me. I didn’t know I could make it this far (I always loathed the beep test in high school!).
I’ve never really been a runner, hell, I never got into cycling until only a couple of months ago, but it’s becoming more apparent that, with any new skill or personal goal I set for myself — if you’re willing to stick with it long enough, that means showing up to every run and pushing yourself to go the extra mile every now and then, something eventually clicks and you start to notice those personal bests.
This October, I #ChooseTORun in a half marathon in the beautiful city of Toronto with the intention of raising money for the Alzheimer Society. They offer free dementia support and interactive workshops as well as online webinars to learn more about Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) and other dementias. More information can be found on their official website, which is linked here — https://alz.to/
It would mean the absolute world to me if you would consider supporting my fundraising efforts, to help the lives of those living with dementia, their care partners, and loved ones.
Thank you! 🙏
