Help Danielle raise money

For participating in 2022 TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon

My Story…

Coping with kidney failure isn’t just about the physical symptoms. It can also have a major impact on your life that can cause a great deal of stress and can create a range of feelings and worries. One such worry, is affording potentially life saving treatment.

Dialysis can be quite expensive, however, in developed countries, the government takes care of a considerable percentage of the total cost of dialysis. Here in Canada, the cost of dialysis is generally taken care of by the government.

The Global Care Outreach Program was established in 2011. This program conceptualized and successfully launched the Doobay Dialysis Clinic in Guyana. This medical centre is treating patients on a regular basis.

Your donation of CAD $76 will enable one patient to benefit from one dialysis session. Most patients need three sessions per week ($228). No patient is turned away at the Guyana Dialysis Clinic.

I have decided to support this organization during my first ever 1/2 marathon.

My family is blessed to have the support of a terrific Kidney Care Team while navigating care for my dad as he seeks support for end stage kidney disease ... as my training will be both physically and mentally challenging, I can only imagine the challenges those without access to healthcare are facing and hope to raise funds to make their access to treatment easier.

Description

Help save a Life and Help Someone get their Vision Back

Global Care Outreach Program - Guyana Dialysis & Eye Clinics, in collaboration with Canadian McMaster University Faculty of Health, mission is to provide vital support to help those with kidney failure and low vision to live longer, healthier and better lives. We do this by funding research, dialysis and eye treatments for vulnerable people that are socioeconomically disadvantaged. Your assistance will go to whoever need it most, regardless of race, age, religion or gender. Let’s reply as a joint force to the pain and sufferings of others.
