My Story…
On October 16, I will be coaxing this 61 year-old body into running 5K in the TCS Charity Challenge to raise funds for Fanconi Canada, a grassroots charity supporting medical research into understanding and treating Fanconi anemia - an inherited disease that can affect all systems of the body and causes bone marrow failure, leukemia and solid tumour cancers.
I am running in memory of the too many Canadian children and young adults, including my son Aaron, whose lives were cut short by FA. There is no cure for FA and no effective treatment for its associated cancers. Fanconi Canada is proud to have partnered with the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund (US) in supporting the Fanconi Anemia Cancer Consortium (FACC) - a first of its kind clinical care path to preventing, detecting, and treating FA cancer
The FACC is a collaborative partnership between the FA community and a network of clinicians and physician scientists who have expertise in the diagnosis and management of FA cancers and FA cancer research. Launched in 2022, the FACC aims to streamline cancer care decision-making processes for patients with FA through evidence-based research.
I am asking for your help to continue Fanconi Canada's important work. Your donation will help advance the search for better treatments for FA. Please give generously - every dollar counts. Thank you for your kind support.
