My Story…
On October 16th I will Run a Marathon with both Friends and Family in support of Mental Health.
About Me:
My name is Marshall and I will be running a Marathon for Mental Health. Running has taught me so much about myself and has been a vehicle I use nearly everyday for strengthening my mind. Completing a task such as a Marathon has helped me tremendously with my own self discovery at times where I felt the most lost. I am honoured and grateful to have the opportunity to run for others, and also bring awareness for something that is near and dear to my heart.
Why Mental Health?
Mental health conditions have increased dramatically across the globe over the past decade, especially in North America. I wish to use this platform to run in support of all those effected by Mental Health. I also wish to aid in ending the stigma around Mental Health for Men, and advocate for reaching out for help, talking to someone, speaking up and not suffering in silence. According to the statistics Males are 4x more likely to commit suicide in the United States and make up 75% of total suicide deaths in Canada. It pains my heart to read statistics around Mental Health, and I wish to be a catalyst for change for everyone effected.
"And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”-Marianne Williamson
