My Story…
My plan was to ride my bike in the ScotiaBank Marathon for the third year in support of the sponsorship efforts of the Holy Trinity Refugee Committee. This time around, from Niagara Falls to Toronto. However, Covid had other ideas and I will be participating in less ambitious way. Nonetheless, I still am hoping for your support.
The pandemic has slowed things down terribly for refugee resettlement while the requests for help continued. Currently, our committee is committed to help: two families who fled religious persecution in Eritrea; a gay man who fled his country in the Middle East; a mother, father and daughter who fled the destruction of the war in Syria; and an Afghan man who ran schools and tutoring sessions for girls in Kabul. All are living in dangerous situations but, once here, we can help them to rebuild their lives. We anticipate new arrivals soon. We are working with community groups, family members and our volunteers to make this happen. My sincere thanks for any support you can provide.
