My Story…
I am participating again for the 12th time in support of the Hellenic Home for the Aged. With the continued support of friends like you, I have managed to raise almost $200,000 over the previous 11 years.
I would like to make a special appeal again to you this year to support me once more. We are raising funds to build a new Nursing Home with 128 beds in the empty lot that is adjacent to the existing Scarborough Facility. We are also planning to expand the Toronto (Winona) facility from 81 to 102 beds.
Our waiting lists have grown to over 650 people looking for accommodation in one of our facilities.
I am very passionate about the Hellenic Home. My immediate family members have stayed at both the Toronto and Scarborough facilities. The Home provided them with the opportunity to live the last few years of their lives with dignity, compassion, and respect. If you have, or had, family members residing in one of the two facilities, you will appreciate the work that our dedicated staff are doing. It is not by chance that we are rated by the Ministry of Health as one of the top nursing homes in Ontario.
It gives me pleasure to know our residents are well taken care of in an environment that respects and enhances the Greek heritage and Greek Orthodox faith. This is what gives me the inspiration and the drive to financially support the Home’s mission, to raise funds for it, to get involved, and to deal with the ever-changing needs of our residents.
Please join me in my fundraising and help us ensure that the Home will always be the Jewel of our Community.
